Santa Fe Opera

Last weekend Reed came upon some very good free tickets to the Santa Fe Opera. The firm buys season tickets, $300 tickets, and for some reason, which we later realized, the tickets were still available. So, we excitedly drove the 60 minutes to the Crosby Theater in Santa Fe. The opera house was gorgeous, nestled in the mountains. It is an outdoor opera house and the weather was perfect! The production for that night, was the Tempest, by Shakespeare. We had no idea of what to expect, not being very familiar with operas, or Shakespeare. Our seats were really good, third row, center. We tried to take more pictures, but were told by the employees that cameras were not allowed, so we went outside to take pictures, but were told again no cameras, and then were threatened that our camera would be confiscated. Anyway, the opera was horrible. I am not sure how Shakespeare intended it to be, but it was strangely modified to a modern point of view. Just plain weird. Not to mention that there was "fake nudity" and I will leave it at that! I guess Reed and I are lacking in the culture department, and that is just fine with me!
