I have eaten those words so many times that they are permanently seared to my tongue. I can taste them there at this very moment.
I remember often (pre -children) observing situations which I swore I would not experience/or let occur, such as: watching/listening to my offspring yelling, screaming, kicking, gnashing teeth, in church, or being seen in public with my children dirty (how awful), hair unbrushed, and wearing unmatched clothes/and or pajamas, or publicly repriminding them not so quietly and with no thought of Child Services taking me away.
These were my thoughts as I was in the grocery store with 3 of the 4 kiddos. As I hurriedly placed Rachel's carseat in the cart and then lifted Megs and Matt into the cart, and rushed to get the chicken breasts that were on sale for $1.58 a lb (couldn't miss that sale!) I happened to look down at the twins and noticed that Matthew had pajamas on, which were covered in whatever he had eaten for breakfast, and Meghan was not much better off with huge tangles in her hair and toothpaste on her mouth, arms, and legs (at least she thought to brush that part of her body). And, to be honest, I was only mildy horrified! I even laughed! Baby steps ........(four of them to be exact!).

Amen... thats all I can say!
I thought the same things pre-kids and have been guilty, unfortunately, several times!
Yep. Dean still worries about them looking ridiculous in public, but I gave up long ago. Several months ago in a doctor's office in the waiting room, Kyler's shoes were on the wrong feet - as usual. I gave up on that one long ago. Finally another father in the room got up and walked over and switched his shoes around. I didn't care; I thought it was funny. I guess it was wigging him out.
I am so with you sister!! LOVE IT!!! Miss you!
